👩 It’s Women’s History Month – Celebrating (T)all Ladies

It’s Women’s History Month—a perfect time to celebrate the incredible things women have accomplished. And since this is A Tall Girl’s Podcast, you know we have to give a special shoutout to the tall ladies out here doing big things.

Here are just a few of those tall women:

🏀 Kayla Alexander – 2x Olympian, pro basketball player, co-founder of Tall Size (because we deserve cute clothes too), and using her platform to empower women in basketball. LITERALLY a powerhouse.

🌍 Bree Wijnaar â€“ Founder of The Tall Society, a global community for tall women. She’s 6’4” and travels the world while bringing tall women together. Tall Tribe Travel? Say less.

🎙️ Alicia Jay – Standing at 6’6”, she proudly reps tall women everywhere. She’s also a podcaster, hosting We Need to Talk, an all-women sports show. We love a tall woman in media!

What tall woman (or any woman) are you highlighting this month? Reply to this email or post on socials and tag me @atallgirlspodcast so we can celebrate together! đź’›

👚 Rachael’s Fashion Take - The Tall Plus Size Fashion Gap – Why Does It Still Exist?

Rachael is a tall fashion creator standing at 6’3” whose mission is to find quality, affordable clothing that caters to tall frames. To follow Rachael and see her fashion picks and try-ons, check out her Instagram.

Retailers have made strides in offering a wider range of sizes, with many now catering to petite, short, tall, and plus-size customers. But what about those who are both tall and plus size? Even indie brands that specialize in tall fashion often stop at 2XL, and the industry standard for plus-size clothing—typically starting at size 14—rarely extends beyond size 18 or 20.

Why is that?

Cost and production challenges likely play a role, but with over 67% of women identifying as plus size (according to a 2024 study by Credence Research), it’s clear that demand exists. Meanwhile, women 5’8” and taller fall into the 95th percentile, making up just 5% of the population. That intersection—being both tall and plus-size—feels underserved.

If you’ve ever struggled to find jeans that are both long enough and fit your curves or a jacket that actually closes over your hips without losing sleeve length, you’re not alone. With so many women falling into one of these categories, it’s time for brands to do better.

Expanding size offerings beyond the current limits would not only be inclusive but also meet an untapped demand.

Her post dives into where to shop, what to look for, and how to make the most of the limited options available.

Have a favorite tall plus-size brand or hack for making pieces work? We’d love to hear from you! Let’s keep the conversation going and push for more inclusive fashion.

🤦‍♀️ So No One Takes Tall Women Seriously??

There seemed to be a major theme in the podcast this past month.

And that is: No one takes tall girls seriously.

Whether it’s our insecurities, physical health, or mental health struggles, people act like the challenges we face with our height are ridiculous. Like it doesn’t even exist.

And it sucks, right? Feeling like we have no safe space to vent. No real advice that actually helps. No one who gets it.

But that’s exactly why I started this podcast—to create that space.

One struggle that doesn’t get talked about enough is body/height dysmorphia. You know that feeling when you swear you look huge compared to everyone around you? Or your hands and feet feel extremely big?

Yeah…that’s part of body dysmorphia in tall women. And honestly…it’s ruining our lives. :/

This month’s episode dives into all of it. Tune in here for more 👇

And if you’ve ever felt this way, you’re not alone. DM me or reply to this email—I’d love to hear your thoughts. 💙
