🦴Tall Girl’ed So Hard I Needed an X-Ray

Yes y’all, I needed an X-Ray…

If you’ve been following my health journey, you know that I was recently diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease a few months ago.

And apparently, that is linked to a back condition I recently discovered.

At first, we thought it was Ankylosing Spondylitis. It turns out that after getting an X-ray, I have Chronic Sacroiliitis, which is inflammation of the Sacroiliac joints (the joints where your pelvic bone and spine connect).

Now, I’m assuming I had this for a while because for years, I would wake up with a very sore lower back that would get better throughout the day. I thought that was normal. But for someone my age, it’s not.

There are worse symptoms (some that I’ve experienced, like discomfort when standing or sitting too long and irritation in that area when dancing or twisting too much), but because I have a moderately healthy lifestyle (and I’m young), the symptoms aren’t as bad.

You’d think being tall was the cause, but it’s actually linked to my Crohn’s Disease. And being tall makes it worse…

The extra pressure on my back. Not sitting properly at tables and in chairs because everything is short. Bending over at sinks and counters. Things like these just irritate my back more. And this is one of those times where being tall is very annoying.

I saw a post on IG that I figured I’d share. The creator actually tagged me.

Every body is different. What works for you may not work for someone else and vice versa. Especially with tall bodies, where not many women have the same proportions and dimensions as us.

It’s always important to listen to it and see doctors or work with people who are understanding of the fact that things are different for us.

This is a reminder to treat our bodies with grace and patience. It does so much for us, including dealing with the wear and tear of existing. Remember to take care of yourself.

👚 Rachael’s Fashion Take: Back to School—Even If You’re Not Going Back

There’s just something about August that feels like a reset. Even if you’re not heading back to school, the seasonal shift brings that familiar itch to freshen things up—maybe it’s a new planner, maybe it’s a new outfit. I call it “adult back-to-school shopping,” and honestly, I look forward to it every year.

It’s the perfect time to rethink your style—especially if your days are spent bouncing from work to errands to after-hour events. Whether you're updating your wardrobe for a fresh season or looking for staples that carry you from the office to dinner plans, now’s the time to invest in pieces that do the most.

One of my personal MVPs? The Endless Pants from Athleta.

These pants check every box:

  • Pull-on waistband

  • Polished straight-leg silhouette

  • Faux fly that adds structure without the stiffness

  • Magical front crease that never fades, even after multiple washes (yes, I air dry mine)

  • Slightly cropped ankle length that’s perfect for showing off those new “back-to-school” shoes (even if you’re using air quotes like me)

And of course—they're tall girl approved. I know many of us have lingering trauma from “ankle pants” that were never meant to be ankle pants 😅, but these truly feel intentional and polished. Ideal for travel, commuting, or just looking like you’ve got it all together—even when you don’t.

Not into the Endless Pants? No worries.

My advice:

Start with a few quality staples in neutral colors—think trousers, blazers, or button-downs with good structure. Whether you’re shopping from big-box stores or small indie brands, prioritize construction and fabric over trends. These are the building blocks of a capsule wardrobe that works harder than you do.

Then, add in the fun: a pop of color, a pattern you love, or that “just because” piece that makes you feel good. If you’re still figuring out your personal style, start with color. Find the ones that light you up and build from there. Style doesn’t happen overnight—just like confidence, it grows over time.

Want to see how I style my pieces day to day?

Let’s make this your most stylish season yet—even if the only thing you’re “going back to” is your inbox. 😉

🤦‍♀️ Why Do Tall Women Get Misgendered??

Okay, this is way more common than you think.

There are tall women (especially 6’2” and up) who have been approached by random strangers questioning their gender.

“Excuse me, are you a lady man?”

“Are you sure you were born a girl?”

Like my bad, let me just go grab my birth certificate. 🙄

And it’s not always that direct. It can be more subtle like:

“Excuse me, sir.”

“Mister, can you point me in the right direction?”

A bit harmless, but stuff like that still stings.

Anyways, in the episode of the month, I dive deeper into this topic and determine whether or not people are doing this on purpose. Make sure you tune in!
